Take your equine rehabilitation knowledge and skills to new heights at the AAEP’s 71st Annual Convention. After exploring non-invasive therapies to facilitate healing at Tuesday morning’s How to Rehab at Home session, convert that knowledge from concept to command at Wednesday afternoon’s Equine Rehabilitation Techniques Wet Labs.
Noted equine sports medicine and rehabilitation practitioners Dr. Melissa King and Dr. Sandro Collo from Colorado State University are coordinating the labs, and they will be joined on the instructor panel by four additional international authorities. Under their guidance, you’ll rotate in small groups through the following labs structured to help integrate these therapies in your practice, improve outcomes for injured equine patients and instill appropriate case selection criteria for each modality:
- Aquatic Therapies – Melissa King and Claire Moiroud
- Pain Management Modalities – Sandro Colla and Tena Ursini
- Core Strengthening Exercises – Kara Brown and Katie Ellis
Labs attendance is capped at 60 participants, and the labs series is expected to offer 4 RACE-accredited CE hours. The labs are being held at CSU Spur, approximately five miles from the convention center. Roundtrip transportation is provided and required of all registrants.
Perhaps you’re seeking to integrate rehabilitation services into your practice offerings. Maybe owners keep asking you about pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy. Or a trainer client is purchasing an underwater treadmill and wants you to design a program for their horses. No matter the motivation, expand your capacity to optimize healing, restore function and minimize reinjury risk among your equine patients with immersive rehabilitation training on the final day of the convention.
